EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

LEOSFA Continually strives to improve the efficiency and profitability of both band saw and circle saw operations through a variety of educational programs, among them:

An informative Newsletter. Published quarterly, the newsletter contains detailed technical information or sawmill operation, maintenance, business management and safety. It also provides a calendar of forest industry courses and meetings.

Intensive one to two-week hands on Courses that teach such skills as saw hammering, hardwood grade sawing on an automatic mill, mill alignment and troubleshooting.

One or two-day Workshops, focusing on such topics as mill alignment and maintenance, saw welding, chipper maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Filing Room Maintenance workshop. held at Cummings Lumber Company in Troy, PA (March 10, 2001)

Intro to Bandsaw Filing Course - Held at Deer Park Lumber in Tunkhannock, PA (July 29, 2000)

   In addition to its scheduled activities the Association is available to answer, by e-mail, any questions that members may have. We also maintain an extensive lending library for the exclusive use of our members.
