Stretcher Roll Maintenance Workshop

On Saturday Feb 8th LEOSFA helped sponsor a workshop hosted by Deer Park Lumber. The workshop focused on problems associated with a worn stretcher roll. We also worked on benching techniques, welding, and hammering. Due to the limited class size we were able to work on every problem the filers' face within their own filing rooms. Furthermore, we discussed how to properly set up the auto leveler and what to expect when removing a saw from the leveler. In all I believe the filers received a large amount of knowledge to apply at their own mills.
I would like to express my appreciation and thanks to Ryan Andrews and Deer Park Lumber for all their help and support. I would also like to thank our instructors, Vic Berge and Bruce Moore. Without their expertise this workshop would not have been the success it was.
If there is a workshop you would be interested in let us know. We would be more than happy to visit your mill and help with any problems. More than likely if you are having a problem, someone else has experienced the same scenario. Together we can educate each other. A well-informed filer makes a noticeable difference in lumber quality and production.

Thank You,
Ben Stuart
Director 2003
